Supporting Teachers with Distance Learning
Solar One is planning to launch virtual professional learning programs that blend our Green Design Lab lessons and content with new distance learning resources for Google classroom.
Dates will be announced in Fall 2020. If you are interested in receiving registration information when the workshops are launched, please contact us or sign up on our curriculum page.
At a Solar One Professional Development workshop, Solar One educators train teachers on Green Design Lab’s hands-on activities in Energy, Water, Materials, Air and Food. We also train teachers on ways they can work with their students and the rest of the school community to conserve energy and reduce their carbon footprint.
Every workshop includes lesson planning time for integrating content into coursework, standards alignment (NYSSLS, Next Gen, etc.), and discussions on best practices for using GDL as a tool for highly effective teaching. Teachers receive detailed instructional guides for the activities covered.
To schedule a Professional Development workshop on-site at your school, please email us at education[at]solar1[dot]org

“Making batteries, testing building materials, making the thermal water heater– all of the activities were great. This was, by far, the best PD I’ve ever attended. This had activities that are so relevant and applicable, and also things kids will enjoy doing. I will integrate some of these into my classes next year.”
